Introduction to Digital Manufacturing
In this seminar series, you will obtain the necessary specialized expertise in modelling digital manufacturing issues (advanced computing), rapid prototyping and manufacturing process CAD/ CAM.
The program focuses on the digital design process, starting with various forms of digital modelling (input) and ending with construction resulting from CAD / CAM tools (output).
Digital Design Strategies is aimed at producing original products through digital fabrication, a process that offers incredible opportunities for developing, testing, producing and communicating design ideas.
Important Notes:
The course starts with a series of lectures on the theoretical background of digital manufacturing (Analogue vs. Digital). Then, a series of workshops will expand the participants' field of knowledge to a more practical level: modelling, assembly manufacturing processes taking into account design constraints (design for the machine) and design-production-manufacturing parameters. Course topics are provided to help participants develop technical, conceptual and aesthetic knowledge of digital design media. Participants will use a wide range of technical design processes, 3D software tools and materials, and through experiential exercises will gain knowledge and skills on the fundamentals of modern digital design at a more advanced level.
